Grain futures are up slightly in light trade today, with wheats up 4-5 and corn up 1-2. Traders seem content to play the cards they?re holding, and see what tomorrow brings. Final AVERAGE trade guess is 88.9 myn acres of corn, and 53.3 myn acres of winter wheat, 13.55 myn acres of Spring wheat.  Grain stocks are estimated to be: 1.36 byn bu of wheat and 7.5 byn bu of corn. No market shaking news this morning. It is interesting to see that the exporters bids have ?tightened? up somewhat. A week or so ago, we might see .20 difference between exporters, in different delivery slots. That USUALLY means a pretty thin market. Today, the exporters seem to be tightly grouped together, giving at least the impression that the market has a little depth here.

Weather man calls for heavy rain again in TX, East Okie, E Neb, Missouri, Iowa into Minnesota. Crop scores showed Kansas wheat 70% G- Ex?overall SRW crop is rated 48% G-Ex. We did manage a couple nice corn sales last night, 4.3 myn bu to South Korea and 4.4 myn bu to Egypt (which doesn?t happen too often).

USDA says that the west could have its highest grasshopper infestation since 1985. Wyoming has a budget of $2.7 myn bu for suppression. If they see 1985 type levels will need $40 myn. A cold damp spring would be helpful for control, a warm dry spring could be a disaster.

There will be no markets Friday for observance of ?Good Friday?.
