***NOTE: Corn values vary depending on delivery location PLEASE call for updates.
US $$ is up, and futures continue to see long liquidation. Do you realize since the 1st of June Chicago has lost .90? KC has burned through .87 and Mpls is off .67? Note; There is still plenty of air under these numbers. Weather man sez there will be ?crop friendly? weather over the weekend for the most part. Central US will cool off a bit, the eastern corn belt will be drier/ warmer and the northern plains will as well. Internationally, China will get showers in the driest parts of the country. India?s monsoon is going to improve?it has been hot/ dry enough in the Ukraine to finally register on the radar screen, but the weather mans says it will cool in coming weeks. After reading all the weather reports I couldn?t help but wonder why the PNW seemed to be the only one left off of his list. We?ll see if we get some showers (tomorrow will likely be our best shot).
FSA says tighter credit/ tougher time getting outside loans has caused a sharp spike in FSA loans not seen in over 20 years. Direct operating loans are up 81% while direct ownership loans are up 132%. There was no breakdown as to weather these are grain/ dairy/ beef operations, but the numbers are significant.
The last 2 days South Korea has been a big buyer of US corn (perhaps hedging their bets before the 6/30 planted acreage report). 2 nites ago they bot 6.5 myn bu of US corn Nov/ Dec, then last nite returned again for another 10.8 myn bu for Oct/ Dec. Corn sales report OUGHT to show a nice week next Thursday. China says their summer grain production (about 23% of their total) will be up for the 6th year in a row to 122 myn mt. China did have major cancellations of US beans again last week, it will be interesting to see if they make it 3 weeks in a row. Better agronomics/ seed varieties and some support from the gov?t has certainly improved production. Egypt says that even after returning the last shipment of Russian wheat, they have stocks enough for the next 6 months?leading one to wonder about whether there might be another reason for rejecting the wheat.
***Didja Know: ?Second string? came from the middle ages when archers would carry a spare string in case the one on the bow broke??Freelance? was a term originally meant to describe a mercenary soldier, a person who was free to use his lance for you, if you paid him money
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!
