***NOTE: Corn values vary depending on delivery location PLEASE call for updates.

Oil was down $4, and gold down $15 overnight, futures called: Beans down the limit (expanded limits so it could have been $1.05..currently UP .36 in n/c. Wheats were called down 18-20, and are resting about there. Corn was expected to open down 2-4, but are up 10. Sometimes opening calls aren’t worth a lot. Inspection report was a bit negative for wheat with only 16.4 myn bu shipped. The market is still closely monitoring wheat for cancellations. Corn was also off pace with only 42.5 myn bu shipped, but this isn’t a big deal today (lots of time to make up this small difference). Funds only sold about 3 m caks of wheat yesterday and sent wheat futures reeling down the limit. With all the “other” trade pretty much just observing, the specs move the wheat markets pretty freely. We will get our first weekly crop condition report next Monday. Proposed merger between the CFTC and SEC will face a long battle, with SEC’s spotty history, and the current market environment, it is gonna be a tough sell as any type of “improvement, or increased efficiency”.

Yesterday ABARE released a report saying GMO crops (oilseeds/ wheat) could provide a significant benefit to the AUSSIE AG. They feel there could be a potential for $912 myn by 2018. Gaining customer acceptance is still slow. Also the Victorian Farmers Federation voted to create a grain marketing Co-op. China received more rain, which should help with their drought, but clearly they need much more. The Argie farmer strike is pretty much over. Exports will resume next Monday. Also their Ag Secretariat announced they will make 2 myn mt of wheat available for immediate shipment (4/7 would be the earliest). I was not able to find out how the strike was resolved though. Brazil is poised (still on track) for a huge bean crop, with yields up 5% vs. last year, and they also said that “winter” corn seedings will hit record levels…this will be VERY important to watch as time progresses.

***Didja Know: April fools stuff: A radio station in S. Cali broadcast that a beer truck had jack-knifed and could not be moved until the beer was removed…over a 100 volunteers showed up at the station. Says here it is impossible to cry in space, with no gravity, the tears don’t flow…In one second, a hurricane will release as much energy as Hiroshima type atom bomb….A flea can jump 120x its own length…Largest pig on record was over 9’ long and weighed in at 2552 lbs…
