NOTE: Corn bids vary depending on point of delivery. Please Call for Updates. Expanded limits this morning, and traders are taking full advantage…so far we have already seen Chicago trade a $1 range and is currently up 60. DNS has traded an .80 range, corn .13. Synthetic futures implied much higher prices than yesterday’s close, but a weaker session overnight leaked into a softer opening. That softer opening didn’t last long as red ink soon turned black. Otherwise very little news in the market place. Congress is now arguing the LDP issue on the Farm Bill. One argument is that if changed, it would alter the way growers market their grain…DUH! Any time you tinker with a pricing mechanism, and even some things that are not directly related will change marketing tactics, timing, techniques. Another perfect example is the Chinese government stiffening environmental laws especially as related to production of glyphosphate. That "internal Chinese decision" is radically impacting growers all across the world as glyphosphate supplies are very tight.International News: Bangladesh will tender for 1.8 myn bu of wheat by the end of May to stem grain shortages. Kazakhstan will curb exports. The Aussie Grain Council officially welcomed the Fed’s plan for grain industry de-regulation. They said it is time for growers to recognize that the single desk is gone. Chinese veg oil consumption is up 2 myn mt (about 10%) in the last year as diets continue to change and the population becomes more affluent….by the way did you know that the average Beijing resident has only about 1/30 the fresh water available as compared to the world average? Over night Japan booked 1.4 myn bu of Canadian wheat. Although they are not a big producer, Italy says that their wheat acreage will be up about 17%. Argie said that they would close their export registry for a couple more days…those closer to the situation said it likely means 1 thing…increase in export duties.
***Didja Know: Research has proven that patients in a hospital that have a view of trees require shorter stays and less meds/ painkillers….it has been estimated that humans have only been in New Zealand for about 800 years….Aussie is the flattest, driest inhabited continent, that is also made up of only 1 country. Population is about 18-20 myn people.
***All bids are subject to change, please call for CONFIRMATION of prices. All information in this letter is from sources deemed reliable, and is for informational purposes only***
