***NOTE: Corn values vary depending on delivery location PLEASE call for updates.
Markets are feeling a little more like what we have been accustomed to … UP. Corn is reclaiming about .14, beans .15 to .20. Chicago is up .20, KC up .17 and Mpls is up the limit. Export sales report registered ‘vigorous’. Traders were looking for 47-63 myn bu of corn, and ended up with 62.9 myn bu. In Wheat 11-18 myn bu and hit 15.5 myn bu. SRW failed to register a tick on the sheet….SWW sales were 1.5 myn bu. Morocco announced that they will be seeking 51 myn bu of soft wheat BEFORE May 31 (before their harvest). With sales remaining strong, on paper we are still poised to “run out” of SWW and DNS. So unless S&D’s are wrong, or demand is curbed we will be at zero heading into the harvest. Even with corn rallying basically since harvest, sales remain ‘brisk’. Last night Japan booked 6 myn bu and Taiwan another 4.7…so next week is already starting to look good. China has not been a major exporter, preferring instead to try to keep food prices in check, but they will occasionally export. They are expected to offer a small tender to Taiwan as a gesture of ‘good faith’. 25% of all corn produced in China is used for industrial applications.
Brazilian gov’t issued a largely symbolic “BAN” on any more deforestation. In the last 5 months about 3200 sq Kilometers have been cleared. It is largely symbolic since they really have no way to enforce it. Interestingly most of clearing is said to be done for cattle ranching vs. bean/ sugar production. Heat will remain in Argie, and they are expected to trim corn production estimates as we go forward.
1.3 myn acres of CRP are set to expire by 9/30. With rent prices up, it will be interesting to see what re-enrollment looks like. Also, Nebraska will push once again by initiative to ban corporate farming. There goal is retain the “family farm” culture. Last attempt failed.
***Didja Know: Odds makers say that the chance of dieing by falling out of bed are about the same as being hit by lightening..about 1 in 2,000,000. What is unique about Asparagus and Rhubarb? They are the only 2 vegetables that can regrow on their own…all other vegetables must be replanted/ seeded. 1 acre of hemp can produce as much paper as 4 acres of trees…this is odd, but after thinking about is about right…the food the average American eats has traveled about 1500 miles before hitting the plate…
HAVE AGREAT WEEKEND!!!
